The Society's library is housed in the Archives Room of Francis Close Hall Campus, University of Gloucestershire, Swindon Road, Cheltenham GL50 4AZ. ( Map) To use it you must be a member of the Society and have obtained a library card from the University by visiting the library and producing suitable ID together with payment of £5.
Please check University Archives for the current opening hours. Most books may be borrowed by members for up to two months. No member may have more than five items out on loan at the same time. Members of the Society's Library also become members of the University Library. This entitles them to consult for reference only any books held in any of the University's libraries. The Library card issued to members also acts a photocopy card. Cards may be charged in the University Library.
The Society's library holds specialist books on archaeology, architecture, history, geography and local studies and a wide selection of periodicals. Suggestions for purchase are considered by the Library Committee which acquires new books and pamphlets in accordance with our collecting policy. There is a suggestions book for the use of members.
